Anton's xmas socks

Anton's xmas socks, originally uploaded by nz.pixie.

Ok so I'm working on how to upload pics so this is kind of a test post. And these are my baby's xmas socks which he loves; calls them his "army socks".

Hopeless already...

I had great plans for keeping this up-to-date and interesting and I'm having trouble doing either at this point.

In other news I'm designing my first sock. And I will post pics and the pattern when it's done. It's got a name, and a cuff, and a leg, a heel flap and a heel, but the foot is in progress at this point. It's taking over though and I need to get it and its' partner done so that I can go back to some of the other knitting/crocheting that I'm supposed to be doing for gifts. The reality is that actually I am working on some of the other stuff at the same time. I personally don't know how anyone can be monogamous with a project, I have to work really hard to be anything like that. And only in very extreme circumstances like when I'm working to a deadline and need to finish something for a gift. And it's due tomorrow. Otherwise I've got at least three things on the go.

Anyway, I'm really pleased with all the things I made for gifts. And I will post pics.

And another sock done

Finished another sock for Dad for xmas. That is to say, I've finished Dad's first sock but the other one is done to the toe, just gotta do the decreases and kitchener. I must be weird cos I like kitchener, it seems not many do. Another pair to do after this, but they're kids ones so shouldn't take so long, and then I want to make a pair for my niece for her birthday in the new year - turns out she has big feet, dunno where she got those from!

Went to knit night tonight, had a couple of extras turn up which was nice. One of them is a lady who has promised to help me learn to weave. I bought a 2nd hand table loom recently and I don't know how to even set it up, never mind actually produce something using it. In return, I've promised to help her with a crocheted jacket she's started but is having trouble putting together - a fair exchange, we think. I'm looking forward to learning to weave. And I so need a new hobby. Or maybe I don't. But I'm gonna do it anyway.

And now, to bed.

I'd completely forgotten...

...that I started this blog. And now I have no idea what I'll do with it.

I'm sorta on holiday. That is to say I have no work to do at the moment, so I'm making the most of it and frantically trying to get all my xmas knitting/crocheting done before the day. And I'm nearly there.

My big boy is away on school camp, and it's really quiet here without him. It's funny, cos it's my little boy who's the noisy one. Life will be back to normal in 3 days when he gets back, and for now I'll enjoy the peace.

I've decided we'll put the xmas tree up when he gets back. We don't put anything underneath it until xmas eve night (nosy little people kinda spoil their own surprises) and then little one thinks that Santa did the big delivery when he wakes up in the morning. It's kinda cute, really.

I've put my name in for the next scarf exchange on Ravelry. I did the last one, and had mixed feelings about it. The person who made for me didn't even wait to find out who she was making for, so had no idea of my tastes. It seemed that very little thought went into the parcel I received, completely opposite to what I sent out. The receiver of the package I sent out never even told me if she'd got it, so that was hugely disappointing. But I got to be an "angel" and sent another package out to someone who didn't get anything, and she was lovely - very appreciative. It was nice to get to know a little about her and her wee family in another corner of the world.

Anyhow... enough waffling for one day. I'm looking forward to posting pics of the gifts I've made, but will wait until later, in case someone I know actually reads this!
